i popped into this newbie on bridge road this morning – another exciting recommendation found in the good cafe guide and a great excuse to escape the freezing arctic winds that were ripping through melbournes’ streets this morning. related to the same consortium behind tall timber (have tried) and station street trading company (haven’t yet tried), the cafe has a fantastic spacious and open feel. with ample table space, it was easy to spread out my laptop and do some work while eating.

the coffee is five senses which has an excellent smooth flavour. i recently cut milk out of my diet and am having a good/interesting time working out whether i can actually learn to like soy or almond milk. so far, i’m favouring boysoy (don’t worry, all read up on articles, ingredients etc.) which thankfully touchwood serve – so i was loving my latte this morning.

scrambled eggs with grain toast
i’m usually a poached egg girl, but lately i’ve been loving scrambled eggs. today’s were fluffy and creamy, and perfectly scrambled.

dr marty’s crumpets with smashed banana, toasted hazelnuts + fresh honeycomb
i had already eyed this one out on instagram, and was torn between the waffle and the crumpets, but after the recommendation of my friendly waiter, opted for these. so delicious! the fresh honeycomb was amazing and the pumpkin + sesame seeds were a great touch. also loved the fresh honeycomb.

all in all, a really great experience. excellent food + coffee, and a great space to do some work in.
verdict: a great escape from the cold
